My dearest readers,

As 2025 comes to an end, I want to thank you for following me, for spending your precious time with my words, and for supporting my writing journey. I truly appreciate you. This is my last Substack of the year, and I would love to share some of my most treasured bookish moments.

My dearest readers,

This is not my regular bookish/publishing industry newsletter. Last week, I asked on Instagram what I should write about in my next Substack, and the majority voted for “My favorite things of 2025,” so here we are.

My dearest readers,

On Tuesday, I woke up to an email from my imprint about Waterstones’ 25% off sale on pre-orders that started that morning, and Hunter’s Treasure was one of the books they selected for this sale. It made me feel special, but it also meant

My dearest readers,

I hope you’re having a fabulous summer. In my last newsletter, I promised to tell you about the ‘turmoil of my mind’ (since then it only got worse😱). I hit a major impostor syndrome that caused me serious writer’s block.

My dearest readers,

It has been almost five months since I last sent a Substack newsletter (do we call them newsletters? I still don’t know). My absence was primarily due to the busyness of life and the turmoil of my mind…

My dearest readers,

New year, new book, and apparently, this time, drafting a new book for me is like losing weight or making myself work out: it is not easy. 🙃 I’ll be honest with you: the last book I drafted was in the Spring of 2022. It was Digging Dr. Jones. Three years later, here….

My dearest readers,

Happy New Year! I hope you had fantastic holidays and are now ready to face whatever 2025 year will hurl at you. As for me, I’m gearing up to confront the imposter syndrome that has been keeping me from drafting my third book for two months now.

My dearest readers,

Rejections are part of everybody’s life, no matter where you are on this planet, what you do for a living, or what you look like. Rejection is a giant part of the publishing world. It starts with our brain rejecting our work by telling us what we wrote is a total 💩 and that no person in their right mind would love our book…

My dearest readers,

I apologize for interrupting my regular programming to bring you this exciting news about my cover (I can barely contain my happiness). Ta-da!!!!

❤️ Nov 21th, 2024

My dearest readers,

Today, I’ll share my submission venture with you. Publishing is a bit like walking through a dark, mystical forest, blindfolded after someone spun you a few times, and things on your path could change without warning. Authors’ publishing paths are similar, yet our paths are unique. Before I found my agent, Helen Lane, I read a lot and listened to many educational podcasts about publishing, yet I wasn’t fully prepared for it. Did I mention there is also a lot of waiting? Sooo. Much. Waiting🫠….

My dearest readers,

Since I still can’t talk about my big news, I’ll talk about the tough love writers need. What I mean by ‘tough love’ is that writers should surround themselves with honest but kind critique partners who are unafraid to challenge their writing. If writers only have critique partners who will nod and say positive …

Hello friends!

Thank you again for signing up for my Substack. This is my first newsletter, and I’m unsure where to start, so I’ll begin blabbering and hope that some of it will make sense by the end. In advance, I apologize for all my grammatical errors. I threw them in to trick you and see if you notice them.😉 Just kidding. English is my second language, and even though I migrated to the US twenty-five-plus-some years ago, I still don’t know how to…..
